Photoshop 6 or Higher: Create and Paint with Styles

Step 1: Create a test shape

Begin by creating a new file and a new layer (menu/layer/new layer) in that file. Draw something on this layer or put a custom shape. I chose to use a previously created custom shape I made for work. Don't worry about messing up. Any change you make to the layer styling can be undone.

Create a new file, a new layer and draw something on that layer.
