This is Sean, just after birth and before a much-needed bath. Sean was born by emergency C-section. Ian took these first pictures while I was still in recovery and knocked out by the general anestesia. I have no memories of the first four hours of Sean's life. He was born at 7:33 PM and I didn't meet him until 11:00 PM (give or take). The first glimpse I had of him was of this photograph still on the digital camera while I was in recovery.

Ian writes: "Here's the exhausted baby later with the equally exhausted mother. "

A better description would be "drugged." We were both still very woozy from the anestesia. It was four hours after Sean's birth. He was confused, hungry and very grumpy. As soon as he was put into my arms he burst into tears after giving me the look of "this has been the strangest day of my life!"
