Photographs: California: Clam Beach

Ian and Sean:
On our 2007 trip to Eureka and points north we stopped at Clam Beach right after breakfast. Here are Ian and Sean walking out to the sand.

The Rules:
Sean made sure we stopped to read all the rules before heading out to the sand.

Ocean Behind the Rules:
The waves breaking in this photograph are farther away than they appear to be.

Clam Beach Spring:
There is a stream that runs down from the moutains, under the 101 and out the ocean. We had to cross it to get to the beach.

This photograph provided inspiration for a digital art piece in June 2007.

To the Ocean:
Here the creek widens as it hits the sandy beach. I used the drift wood in this photograph as inspiration for a drawing called "Driftwood" in April 2007.

Two Bits:
We found a quarter of a sand dollar.

Old Ball:
I loved the way this old tennis ball had disturbed the lines the wind had made in the sand.

Grass:
We returned to the parking lot. This scrubby grass marks the end of the beach.

Alaskan Amber:
I liked the artwork on this abandoned beer bottle.
