What Are You Reading: January 17, 2011: 01/16/11 I have two Cybils graphic novels to finish. My goal is to finish them this week so I can be done with them before school starts up again. My other reading has been short stories as I'm terribly behind in my issues of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, wishlist reading, reading for fun and reading with my children. Ghostopolis has the distinction of being both a Cybils book and a wishlist book. On my currently reading, I am very slowly going through Kraken by China Miéville. I am reading ten pages a night before bed. The Canary Trainer is another wishlist book and it starts with the same Sherlock Holmes book as the Beekeeper's Apprentice does. Reading Meyer's book brought back fond memories of first starting King's series so I have checked out the first book to re-read. Finished Last Week:
- "Advances in Modern Chemotherapy" by Michael Alexander (FSF July / Aug 2010) (personal collection)
- Athena: Grey-Eyed Goddess by George O'Connor (review copy)
- "Brothers of the River" by Rick Norwood (FSF July / Aug 2010) (personal collection)
- Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 2 by Hiromu Arakawa (library book)
- Ghostopolis by Doug TenNapel (review copy)
- Hattie the Bad by Jane Devlin (library book)
- How Many Cats by Lauren Thompson (library book)
- "Recrossing the Styx" by Ian R. McCloud (FSF July / Aug 2010) (personal collection)
- Smile by Raina Telgemeier (review copy)
- Twin Spica Volume 1 by Kou Yaginuma (review copy)
- Two Bobbies by Kirby Larson (library book)
- The Yggyssey by Daniel Pinkwater (library book)
- Yummy: The Last Days of a Southside Shorty by G. Neri (review copy)
Currently Reading:
- Azumanga Daioh Omnibus by Kiyohiko Azuma (personal collection)
- The Canary Trainer by Nicholas Meyer (library book)
- The Doorbells of Florence by Andrew Losowsky (personal collection)
- Empress of the World by Sara Ryan (personal collection)
- Frost Moon by Anthony Francis (review copy)
- Kraken by China Miéville (personal collection)
- The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey by Trenton Lee Stewart (personal collection)
- West Coast Journeys by Caroline C. Leighton (personal collection)

I have two graphic novels I want to finish this week. That's really not a lot of planning.

Ghostoplis is worth a read. I'll have more to say about it after the winners are announced for the Cybils.

I don't read too much right before bed because 10 pages always turns into 100! Have a great reading week.
Pussreboots
I'm not much of a late night reader. Even when I have insomnia I don't read after midnight.

A nice variety to choose from. Have a great reading week!

Wow, that's a LOT of books! I can only read one at a time.
Pussreboots
Reading more than one book at a time is no different than following more than one TV series a week.
Pussreboots
They were mostly short stories, picture books and graphic novels. Not many words to read.
Pussreboots
Notexactly. It was three short stories, six graphic novels, three picture books and one novel. So all together probably the same amount of words as one chunkster.

I love the idea of reading the Cybils lists. I may try to get through a few of the lists with my kids.

I'm a second panel judge for the Cybils in the graphic novels category. So the graphic novels are assigned reading. I will read books from the other lists later for fun.

Wow! You've got a lot of books going on! I don't recognize a lot of those titles though.
Pussreboots
I will get them all reviewed eventually.

Good luck reading you Cybils books :)

Thank you. I'm almost done.

I read primarily short fiction and I don't watch much television.

I am very curious about Kraken, and I am now very tempted to get a subscription to that magazine! Enjoy your books!

FSF is a lovely magazine. If you prefer ebooks, they also have an electronic version of their magazine. Kraken is great but I can only manage about ten pages a day. The plot is very dense.
