Book Blogger HopBook Blogger Hop for January 28, 2011: 01/28/11

Classes have started. Although I'm taking a full load with four, they are fun and none of them have any term papers. There are projects, a lot of reading and a lot of discussion.

This week's question asks what books being published this year are we most excited about.

I have four books: How to Survive a Killer Seance by Penny Warner, Pirate King by Laurie R. King, Theodosia and the Last Pharaoh by R. L. LaFevers and The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan. They are from the very short list of series I actually follow. The first two are adult mysteries and the last two are middle grade/tween fantasies.

Thanks for putting me on your list!

I'm among good company. Hope your classes go well. I'm back to teaching at the college and working on book #4 - How to Party with a Killer Vampire...

Oo those all sound like really interesting titles! There are way too many good ones that are coming out this year for me to pick just one!

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy hop!

I didn't even notice that we were supposed to pick just one book. But these are books from four of my favorite authors.

I can't believe there's another Mary Russell coming out so soon-admittedly I'm pretty far behind on them. I definitely want to catch up on them some time.

I caught up on them a couple years ago. It's so rare for me to be current with series!

I love anything that Laurie R. King writes. LOL

And Rick Riordan is another favorite of mine. Good to know about both of these.

Have a good weekend!

The book I'm most expecting in 2011 is by an author I crossed off my "Favorite author" list. He's back on that list now. Who's the author? Raymond Feist? What's the book? A Kindgom Besieged. Hop on over to my website to read all about it.

I'm really interested in the Theodosia book. Sounds like it would be right up my alley since I love mythology, especially Greek or Egyptian mythology. Great picks!

Comment #26: Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 15:29:58

Pussreboots

If you decide to read the Theodosia books (and I hope you do!), I suggest you start with the first one, Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos.

I really need to read some books by Rick Riordan.. I just watched half of Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief yesterday and it was pretty good, and in my opinion books tend to be even better than their movie adaptaions

Comment #28: Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 15:42:00

Pussreboots

I haven't watched the movie but I have read the entire series. I can tell you that Percy is five years younger in the book than he is in the film.

I have been thinking about reading Theodosia's book series but haven't got around to it, same with Rick Riodan's new series.

Hey again!

Thanks for the visit, I'm hopping back :)

Of all your books, the one I'm interested in is the Pirate King. I'm checking it out on GR now. I'm nuts about series, because I love having epic fantasy world creation spanning several books.

Comment #42: Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 15:59:22

Pirate King will be a mystery, not a fantasy. Happy reading.

Keep in mind that they are all from series. The Rick Riordan and LaFevers series should be started at the beginning. The other two can be read out of order.
