Book Blogger HopBook Blogger Hop for October 29, 2010: 10/28/10

I have been crazy busy with school and I briefly had a stomach bug. So I've cut back on my meme participation. One of my papers is turned in and now I have to finish a database project which involves writing a paper and making a presentation in PowerPoint to present a week from Saturday. Yikes!

To add to the madness, I plan to do Nanowrimo again. This year I'm writing a retelling of Anne of Green Gables but with a science fiction setting. Of course if the Nanowrimo writing gets in the way of school work, I will stop and finish the book at a slower pace.

The Question of the Week:

What is the one bookish thing you'd love to have, no matter the cost?

The one thing my husband and I have talked about is making a reading nook where the cathedral ceiling is right now over our entry way. We live in a split level so it wouldn't be that hard for someone to put in a couple stairs and create a little floor where chandelier is right now. We could put a comfy chair and some built in bookshelves there. It would be a snuggly place to read. It would also free up space in our living room.

Thanks for visiting. What a great idea for making a reading space! You've got me looking speculatively at my own cathedral ceilings. I don't think my husband would go for it, though. :)

If you get the time (yeah, right - I know how it is to be this busy) you might want to stop by my blog again to check out our new Friday Wish-list Hop!

My husband was the one who suggested it. He's the only one tall enough to dust the chandelier and keep the light bulbs changed. He hates both chores but he loves reading.

Hey, Library thing is looking for someone like you but you have to live in Maine. I get the reading loft. I wanted to do that in my foyer but, we have too many places to read now. I would still probably read in bed, the window seat or the couch. Following you on twitter.

We have very limited space but we love our books. If they could just have a dedicated space. It would be so nice.

I can't move to Maine right now. I have too many roots where I am.

The remodeling is just a pipedream right now. We have more pressing items on our to do list first.

Happy Halloween!

I'm here for the blog hop and Follow Friday! I just love these. Answer for the Hop is an IPad or Kindle. Answer for the Follow Friday is: The books I would chose would be Dr. Suess' when she was young then as she grew older I would definitely recommend the Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon books! I loved them when I was young. Here my links and you can find me on facebook too!

I loved Trixie Belden as a kid. I'm not sure my daughter will be into the same genres I was. She and I seem to have very different tastes in things.

A book nook sounds so cozy and perfect! Why not go for it, especially if you already have the space?

Comment #20: Friday, October 29, 2010 at 21:16:21

We would except for the lack of money and know how.

Finances are a big deterrent to having that dream library for me too. Right now I'd settle for shelves. I live at home right now and room is angled. No room for the big shelves I want. One day!

Comment #22: Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 22:00:13

Pussreboots

Shelves can go in and over beds and also in closests. I've done both when I had no other options. Good luck finiding room for your books!

Wow, that sounds like a crazy good idea! I'd love having that nook to read in! I wish I had a place like that all to myself. It'd be nice. :)

Wouldn't it? I wish I could make the idea a reality but there are higher priority things that have to come first.

Hi there, hopping by. Your reading nook sounds great. I'd love to see before and after pictures.

I'm participating in Nano too. Not sure how I'll do, but I'm going to try.

I can only show you before pictures as there is no after. We haven't built it and don't plan on doing so anytime soon. Good luck with Nanowrimo!

I always say to myself, "Hey, how hard can it be?" and charge right in... sometimes this approach works really well, other times, not so much.

Comment #32: Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 22:08:59

Pussreboots

If we were to do the project ourselves we'd need a garage to cut the wood and wallboard and what not. We don't have a garage. The only option would be to hire someone to build it for us. But we don't have the money for that right now.
