Comments for Library Loot for March 24th

Library LootLibrary Loot for March 24th: 03/24/10

Last Friday my daughter was off from school. She chose to spend her day off at the library. Many of the books in my loot this week are ones she picked. My son also had a couple holds come in.

The books we chose:

  • Can You See What I See: On a Scary Scary Night by Walter Wick
My son put this book on hold.

  • Can You See What I See? Once Upon a Time by Walter Wick
My son put this book on hold.

  • Patricia Von Pleasantsquirrel by James Proimos
I picked this book for Harriet. She's going through a princess phase and this book shows how hard it can be to be a princess while poking fun at Where the Wild Things Are, The Giving Tree and The Cat in the Hat.

  • The Happy Hippopotami by Bill Martin Jr.
    Harriet picked this one.

  • Two Little Trains by Margaret Wise Brown
I picked this for Harriet because she likes trains and I like the parallel story structure.

  • Way Up and Over Everything by Alice McGill
    Harriet chose the book

  • All Aboard the Dinotrain by Deb Lund
I got this picture book for myself. It will be the fourth story I've read involving dinosaurs and trains (all by different authors).

  • The Farallon Islands: Sentinels of the Golden Gate by Peter White
When we lived in Pacifica we could see the Farallons but after living in the Bay Area for a decade, I know nothing about them beyond where they are.

  • A Gift of Magic by Lois Duncan
It's been on my wishlist for a while so I put it on hold.

  • Because the Cat Purrs: How We Relate to Other Species and Why It Matters by Janet Lembke
    Just because!

  • Kiss My Math by Danica McKellar
I was intrigued by the title. My husband earned his PhD in math last year and runs an online tutoring site at night. So I was curious to see a book aimed specifically at girls having trouble in math. So far the book looks really good from the few pages I read at random.

Lovely loot! I think it's wonderful your daughter chose to spend her day at the library.

It's funny hearing her brag to her older brother that she got to go to the library and he didn't.

I love "A Gift of Magic." Excellent choice. I just got the book on CD of Storm Front and I'm waiting on Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. It's "in transit."

Enjoy your books. I'm still deciding if I want to read Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.

She only had the one day off but she's read through about half the books she brought home.
