Comments for Crazy For Books

A still from CoralineCrazy For Books: 03/26/10

I've been watching more and more of the book blogs I follow participate in the Book Blogger Hop. It's a weekly event hosted at Crazy For Books. The rules are simple: participants should have book blogs. They are either new bloggers (3 months or less) or old bloggers.

I'm definitely an old blogger. This site, which in one way or another has always had some bookish content, has been online since 1997. The blog in its current form started in February 2004 and was fully a book blog by July 2006.

I review a variety of genres but they mostly fall into these categories: picture books, middle grade and teen fiction, science fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, biographies or memoirs, language arts, film arts, and science. Recently most of my books have been coming from the library although I do have an extensive collection (to be read pile) at home which I will be focusing on next month for the "read your own book" challenge.

I also review ARCs, most of which are self published, but I welcome pitches from traditional publishing houses too.

I post at least one book review each and every day and sometimes two. I also participate in weekly book memes like Booking Through Thursday, Library Loot, Teaser Tuesday, Mailbox Monday and Weekly Geeks. I have an on-going series where I am working my way through Proust's In Search of Lost Time and I'm serializing a nanowrimo novel, Devil to Pay, I first wrote three years ago.

I'm frankly astonished...I did not even know there were blogs out there in 1997!

I'm now a subscriber.

"Blog" was coined in December 1997 but blogging as a concept or activity really didn't take off until the early 2000s. I didn't call what I was doing "blogging" back then. You can get a sense at how different my site was back then via the internet archive.

Hi Puss Reboots! Hard to imagine being online since 1997 but that is very neat. I like your summary in this post. It was very late last night (this morning really) when I found the hop and posted. Your Devil to Pay looks interesting and I will get the downloads to read! Thanks. :)

I was a freelance web designer back then so this site was my way of connecting with clients. I kept the site going even after I stopped freelancing full time.

I just posted a new chapter last night. I'm posting them about every ten days. Happy reading!
