How do you feel about illustrations in your books? Graphs? Photos? Sketches?
I love artwork in books, be it a graph, a photo, a sketch or maybe an entire graphic novel. That being said, the artwork should be appropriate for the book and contribute to it some how. Ugly or off topic art will distract from the experience of reading the book.
The last two years I've been able to parlay my love of illustrations into being a second panel judge for the Cybils in the graphic novels category. I hope they'll have me back next year!
My two main sources of illustrated books come in the form of graphic novels / manga and the picture books I read to my children. Graphic novels account for 4% of my total reading and picture books account for 10% of my yearly reading.
I get totally sidetracked by illustrations so it's better for me when they are in picture books. I'm actually thinking of trying a graphic novel but given my problem with the whole lack of attention, I don't know how it's going to go.

Try graphic novels written for children. They're shorter and less distracting. You could even try something like the Owly series which has no text at all!
Many thanks for mentioning my book Dinosaur Roar in your blog. Your readers may be interested in my blog which gives you some background to the business of creating new books for children and if you have any dinosaur mad kids, they might be interested in Dinosaur Dinosaur, which shows some of the fabulous kids and baby clothing, posters cards and invitations featuring the crazy characters from my books.
