Weekly Geeks 2010-5: Author Fun Facts: Nick Bantock: 02/06/10
For Weekly Geeks this week, I would like to revisit one of my favorites from the past. This particular geeky assignment was posted by Dewey back in November of 2008, just weeks before she died. Here's what she posted then:
This week's theme is: fun facts about authors.
How to:
- Choose a writer you like.
- Using resources such as Wikipedia, the author's website, whatever you can find, make a list of interesting facts about the author.
- Post your fun facts list in your blog, maybe with a photo of the writer, a collage of his or her books, whatever you want.
- Come sign the Mr Linky below with the url to your fun facts post.
- As you run into (or deliberately seek out) other Weekly Geeks' lists, add links to your post for authors you like or authors you think your readers are interested in.
I decided to pick Nick Bantock and artist and writer who makes extraordinary picture books for adults. He was born in Stourbridge, England and is now living and working in Saltspring Island, British Columbia, Canada (wikipedia). His books are published in the United States by Chronicle Books, a local (to me) publisher.
Nick Bantock has a website. On the site he says he will be doing a one-man show at the Denver Museum of Outdoor Arts in September of this year.
He is looking for interesting old stamps and collections and provides an address to contact him if you have leads.
To see all the books he's published including their covers, please see Fantastic Fiction.
