Herding Cats version 2.0: 03/26/09
Here are the rules Herding Cats II (April 1st, 2009 - December 31st, 2009):
1. Make a list of five books you love. Directions:
- Five. I'm as serious as a beached whale.
- All titles must be books you've read in 2007, 2008 or 2009.
- Please don't list a series; just the first book. If you really want to list a book in the middle of a series, you can, but it has to be that specific book.
- Feel free to share why you're putting the book on your list, because I am nosy.
2. Post your list:
- in your own journal, in the comments here, whatever is fine. Share the list here.
- Lists should be public (no locked entries, no logging in to view).
3. Browse the new book list. Stay a while. Read a few.
4. If you review your books, you can share the reviews. You know, if you want. No pressure. Definitely not.

I had so much fun with this challenge last year that I have to sign up again. The first part of the challenge is for me to recommend 5 books I've read in the last 3 years for others to hopefully pick from. The five beloved books that come immediately to mind are: (Click on links to read my reviews)
- The Secret of Lost Things by Sheridan Hay
- Jane Austen Ruined My Life by Beth Pattillo
- Our Man in Havana by Graham Greene
- Rapunzel's Revenge by Shannon Hale
- Diary of a Dead Man by Walter Krumm
My tentative list includes:
There aren't many participants yet so the list only has 25 books to pick from. I will probably update my list later as more options become available. Here are the titles that are currently catching my eye:
- The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
- The Shining by Stephen King
- The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick
- The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
- And something else???

Yay, I'm so glad you posted Jane Austen Ruined My Life. I just got that from the library, so that'll probably be one of my choices.
Hope you like The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I thought it was sooooooo good!

I just read Jane Austen Ruined My Life so it was fresh on my mind. It's a quick and charming read. I think you'll like it.
I bought The Invention of Hugo Cabret for myself over Christmas and I've been looking forward to reading it. This challenge will just prompt me to get to it sooner. So yay!

I hope the list gets bigger soon, too! We're doing pretty great, 30 books in one day.
I totally recommend The Graveyard Book. It's worth all its hype. :D

I'm sure the list will grow. 30 books in one day is really good!
I've been reading through Gaimen's books recently so was thrilled to see The Graveyard Book on the list.
