My favorite novella is Anthem by Ayn Rand which describes a future where individuality has been suppressed to such an extent that the word "I" has disappeared from the language.

Its a great story about a couple who become dog owners and the problems they have with him, but also the joy he brings

My most recent favorite novella is "My Mother's Wish" by Jerry Camery-Hoggatt. The book is funny, thought provoking and makes your eyes fill to the brim. A child's emotional growth spurt during the holidays one year, made her whole questionable life up until that time ring true with love and humor. Would love the chance to read "For the Love of St Nick", I just love holiday themed books!
Thanks so much,
Darby

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
One of his most famous works, it centers upon Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream.

I adore holiday novellas and read as many as I can. Some more recent novellas that I only read this last year are by Lois Lowery. The Giver was my favorite and tells about a future where there is no individuality. One child tries to make a difference. Thanks for your contest and I've added it to my blog.

I am just reading Marley and Me right now.The author is John Grogan. I'm only 1/3 of the way thru but I love how it reminds me of my childhood and pets that I've had.

My fave novella is by Neil Gaiman. He is sort of a horror/fantasy writer and all his work is a little left of center. The title is Harlequin Valentine and it's about how Harlequin (a character in one of his graphic novels) was created. It starts out that she has a real heart stuck to her door. She follows the person she thinks gave it to her and well the result is Harlequin history (if you follow the graphic novel).

Eric Blore's "Animal Farm"; it discusses how some animmals are more equal then others!
