Lately I nearly felt in the trap of a crook ! He contacted me by email and wanted to buy 5 paintings he asked for the prices and measures. The address was in London. So I send him these informations and he said he would buy it and send me a cheque. He said that I don't have to worry about the transport because he had somebody in Belgium for that. The total amount was 600£. To my big surprise he send me a cheque from South Africa with an Irish Bank name (I checked the bank it was OK) but the amount on the cheque was 1900£ ! 1300£ too much ! There I became suspicious and I told him that it is impossible that he would pay 1300£ transport fees for 5 little paintings. In fact what he expected was that I would bring the cheque to my bank and send him the difference of 1300£. But I didn't. I didn't even put the cheque on my bank account because I knew it wouldn't be covered. A very easy way for a cheater to make money and I would have lost the difference between the 1900 he sent me and 600£ he really owed me. I didn't even call him I just send him an email and told him what I thought ! Unfortunately there is no legal way to do anything against him."

"I have painted with both oils and acrylics in the past. I switched to digital ten years ago for a variety of reasons. The main one now is a lack of space both for working and for storage. Lighting is another problem. I have no where with adequate white light to work at night, the only free time I have.

I'm sorry you were almost scammed."
