Comments for My Dreamweaver, VPN and the Slow ConnectionDreamweaver, VPN and the Slow Connection: 5/13/04One of the websites I manage requires a connection via a VPN and has its Dreamweaver site defined to use a remote server as its local server. Connecting to the remote "local" server would often crash Dreamweaver. After months of frustration and basically not using Dreamweaver's get and put functionality for this site, I found a couple of solutions to speed things up from so slow that it crashes Dreamweaver to sluggish but manageable.
The excluding Dreamweaver from the virus scan was the biggest bump in performance. Dreamweaver MX uses a lot of javascript to run and the virus scan will stop each Dreamweaver process to scan for potential problem. Over a remote connection with a VPN, this scan can significantly slow down the program. Source: Builder.com © 1997-2012 Sarah Sammis
