Doors and other ways into places have been a popular subject in my art.
Lines
After about a month, I've finally worked on this project again. I ditched the Bryce tree for a post production one. I added in the circular windows on the sides and the striped stone work in the front.

Shadows
Version 5 of my Awning project. The shadows, lighting and tree were done in photoshop. Some modeling done in Ray Dream. Some textures done in Photoshop. Everything else is Bryce.

Broken Window
I did this one for a challenge. It's a Bryce piece and the window and footprints are terrains.

Entrance
I built this all in Bryce. By setting up spheres as topiaries and then converting the spheres to trees in the edit section I was able to get the staked trees that I wanted. By using flowers as a custom leaf I was able to get a nice potted plant for the doorway.

The Gate
This cheesy picture shows another early attempt at styles and custom shapes in Photoshop.

Trick or Treat
I modeled and renderd these anemonies in Carrara.

Room 101
Done for a challenge. I think the challenge was to depict one's greatest fear.

Ruins
This architectual element was going to be part of a hacienda but I ran out of steam.
December 2002 |
Near Tuscon, Arizon
I created the house in Carrara but rendered it in Bryce. The house is loosely based on an old photograph.

Castle New Haven, January 3001
One of my rare Carrara renders. Usually I just model in it and then render in Bryce.

Early Morning Coffee
I created the blue folding chair in Carrara for this piece. The ivy is a Bryce tree with the trunk and branches set to transparent and new branches drawn in with Photoshop.

The Yard
More Bryce tree practice.

Garden Path
I didn't like the way the previous lamps turned out in "Our Front Steps" so I rebuilt them for "Garden Path".

The White Door
I drew this today using Photoshop. I just felt like drawing a door. Each element is in it's own layer although in this case no layer blends were used. It's just easier to keep the various pieces separate.

Red Door
Drawn with Photoshop. The handle was the hardest part getting it to look like brushed metal.

The Gateway
I created the gateway out of two symetrical latices that use gray scale maps drawn in Photoshop. It took about an hour to draw the maps and another hour to set up the models. The render time was only a matter of minutes.

Number 14
It's a keystone over a door. I had orginally thought about drawing the door but the keystone grabbed my attention instead.

Here yellow and red play against each other in this Photoshop drawing.

Shelter from the Rain
I was inspired to create this piece from the rain scene in My Neighbor Totoro. The bus shelter that I built in Carrara has a lot more detail than is shown in this render. For the best results for the rain I had to add it in some Photoshop post production work.

Peeling Plaster
As I've mentioned before, I'm fascinated by architecture and old buildings. This Photoshop drawing brings together those two interests. I've simplified the color scheme to focus the attention on the architectual aspects of the building.

Laundry Window
The sleeve of a blue shirt hangs out front of a door and window, matching the blue curtains inside.

The Green Door
I drew this last night with Illustrator. I wanted to do something simple to unwind after writing 2,500 words for Nanowrimo.

Prue part of the Gashlycrumb Tinies. She was trampled in a bar room brawl.

Barber Shop
I am enjoying drawing again in Photoshop. This time I mostly used the rectangular marquee and the line tool.
