October 2006 Philosopher's StoneI wanted to do something with Bryce but wasn't sure what. In cases like this, I usually resort to doing abstracts. Tonight I chose to do a "bloop" and "shiny sphere" combination. I placed my camera in the center of the largest sphere on which I placed a custom volume material. Then I put a smaller sphere inside the larger sphere on which I placed the material I used on the recent goldfish piece. I rendered the piece in 360 degrees. I liked how the bloop seemed to wrap around the smaller sphere and inspired the title. Created October 3, 2006 The Plunge Pure Bryce and inspired by "Back" a piece I drew in 2001 with Photoshop. I changed the medium and the gender of the figure but the spirit is the same. Created October 8, 2006 Owl and the Moon Last night Sean and I read Owl at Home by Arnold Lobel. The last chapter is called "Owl and the Moon" and it has a beautiful illustration of Owl standing at the seaside watching the moon rise. As I already have an owl model, I decided to try to recreate the image in Bryce. In working on the piece, I tried to keep the colors similar to the earth tones Lobel uses in most of his books. I'm rather pleased with how it turned out. Created October 9, 2006 Six Poinsettias I did this render to satisfy my curiosity. I wasn't completely satisfied with the first version. While this version is my favorite of the two, most people I've asked, prefer the first version because it is "unique." That's exactly the problem I'm having with it; it's unique. It doesn't feel like a traditional card to me. As the majority of the folks who will be receiving the card have voted for the first version, I will most likely use that version. Created October 13, 2006 TomatoI was inspired by Katcolorado's photograph that I did this Bryce render. Created October 15, 2006 On Guard I liked the results of "Tomato" so much I decided to do another chiaroscuro render. As it is October, a jackolantern seemed perfect. Created October 13, 2006 LemonI'm having fun with the lighting set up for "Tomato" and decided to try again with my lemon model. Created October 18, 2006 LimesWhen I did "Tomato" I really wasn't looking to start a series but the lighting set up works so well that I've been having fun trying different models with it. Created October 20, 2006 FlowersThese were supposed to be California poppy blossums but they didn'y turn out quite right. Created October 24-6, 2006 |
