V is for VendorV is for Vendor
Here is the twenty-second in the series. I have no idea what it is.

Shelter from the RainShelter from the Rain
I was inspired to create this piece from the rain scene in My Neighbor Totoro. The bus shelter that I built in Carrara has a lot more detail than is shown in this render. For the best results for the rain I had to add it in some Photoshop post production work.

Morning After the RainMorning After the Rain
I wanted to see how the entire scene looked so I did a day time scene.

MotifMotif
Ian and I were watching Curse of the Black Pearl for about the hundreth time. The introduction of the Black Pearl inspired me to create this piece. I modeled the parasol in Carrara and did the rest in Bryce save for some foam adjustments in Photoshop.

Flowers for FlowersFlowers for Flowers
Every time Sean looks at "Flowers for Spring" he complains that there should be flowers in the flower cups (or "Flowers for Flowers"). Last night I put this piece together based on his instructions. The title and idea are all his but the execution is mine.

W is for WestW is for West
A weathervane seemed like the perfect thing to draw for the twenty-third piece in the series.

Sea StarSea Star
I recently saw a photoblog that had a photograph of a lone sea star sitting on a beach. The image stuck with me and I tried to recreate it. I used Carrara for the sea star. The waves are a combination of an infinite plane (tiped at two degrees) , some stretched and squashed cylindars and some lattices for the foam. The DOF blur was done in the initial render and corrected a little with Photoshop.

At the BeachAt the Beach
I did the render to see what my ocean model looked like at a distance. It is the same model that I used in the sea star picture.

X WindowsX Windows
The letter X stumped me for a while. Here is the twenty-fourth piece in the series.

Hatful of YHatful of Y
It's a button on a woman's hat. It's also the twenty-fifth in the series.

Z is for Zoo SignZ is for Zoo Sign
Here is a sign for a zoo. It marks the twenty-sixth (and last) in the alphabet series.

One can see the entire series on the A to Z page.

Circus TentCircus Tent
I wanted to see if I could create a circus tent in Carrara's vertex editor. It took two attempts and four days to render (because of the trees). It isn't quite what I was hoping for but it was still a learning experience.

The MissionThe Mission
I bought this fighter model from David Cole (back when he was running Bryce4all). Due to a move right after I bought and then some hardware issues, I didn't get a chance to try all the models. I recently found all of them and have decided to start using them. I would love to link to a site of his but I can't find an active site for him. If anyone has any current info on him, please email me.

Everything else in this piece is mine either created in Carrara or directly in Bryce (including the contrails coming off the plane). I did all the texturing in Bryce (including the plane) and rendered it in Bryce.

Plum TreePlum Tree
I did this drawing around a photograph I took earlier this month of the plum tree that grows behind the house.

Big Horn SheepBig Horn Sheep
I don't usually draw animals in Photoshop but today I felt like doing something different. This piece is a close up of a big horn sheep's muzzle.

Fenced InFenced In
The city is created from multiple versions of a skyscraper model by David Cole. The foreground house, park, roads and lamp are mine. As I was putting together the city block I thought of the story of the Little House by Virginia Lee Burton.

Tree in the WindowTree in the Window
What can I say? I'm back to drawing windows.

Farmer's NightFarmer's Night
I put this piece together based on a conversation on the Bryce Yahoo! group regarding night time renders and renders depicting space. I've been wanting to do a close to the horizon farm image based on all the drives we've taken down the I5 and this seemed like the perfect time. Tigerock created most of the farm buildings, expect for the house which is mine.

Created May 28-9, 2006

Farmer's Day Farmer's Day
I had enough interest in the night time version and requests for a day time version to rerender the scene at day time. I did add a few more trees to make the day time version more interesting but it is otherwise unchanged.
